Dear ADAS Calibration Company: The Environment Still Matters — Even If You're Mobile

We believe in mobile. Done right, mobile calibration companies are a great asset.

But too many are out here chasing convenience instead of compliance.Doing radar alignment on sloped asphalt, under flickering lights, with a gust of wind moving the target board every time someone opens a bay door.

Let’s be blunt:

ADAS calibration is not an off-road sport.

If the environment doesn’t meet spec, the results don’t either.

OEMs Specify the Setup for a Reason

OEMs aren’t vague about this stuff:

  • Level, verified surfaces

  • Controlled lighting

  • Measured distances

  • Specific target heights and materials

  • No vibration, glare, or clutter

If you can’t meet those requirements in the space you’re working in?You shouldn’t calibrate there.

And if you do anyway? You’re calibrating to the wrong data.

Final Word: Mobile Isn’t a Loophole

You still need the right space. You still need to say “no” when the site doesn’t meet spec. And you still need to walk away — even if the shop begs — when the environment compromises the outcome.

Because if that system fails and you calibrated it there?

It’s not the lot that gets sued. It’s you.
