Dear Insurance Company: “Mobile Said They Can Do It in the Lot” Isn’t a Green Light for Cutting Corners

Ah yes. The famous last words:

“No need to tow it — the mobile tech said they can do it in the parking lot.”

That’s adorable.

You realize calibration isn’t just about plugging in a tablet, right?

It requires:

  • A level, laser-verified surface

  • Specific lighting

  • Controlled distances

  • No background interference

  • Zero movement

We love our mobile techs. The good ones refuse to calibrate in uncontrolled environments. The others? Well… they’ll do it anywhere if someone’s waving a check.

But just because someone says they can do it doesn’t mean it’ll hold up in court when the car misfires on the highway.

So Unless Your Parking Lot Meets OEM Calibration Standards…

You’re not saving money. You’re outsourcing liability. And you're sending cars back to customers with life-saving systems calibrated in a space built for coffee breaks and overflow cars.

Final Word: Mobile Calibration Has Standards Too. Follow Them — Or Don’t Approve It.

If the environment doesn’t meet spec, then the calibration doesn’t meet spec.

And “a guy in a van said it was fine” isn’t going to fly when someone gets hurt.
