Dear Vehicle Owner, The Shop Can Still Do the Right Thing — Even if Insurance Doesn’t Pay

Here’s something insurance companies won’t say out loud:They don’t repair cars. They don’t test systems. And they certainly don’t sign off on safety.

But your shop does.

And a good shop? They’ll follow the manufacturer’s procedures regardless of what the insurer thinks is “too expensive.”

Even better — the shop can:

  • Document what’s required

  • Perform the proper calibrations

  • Provide proof that the insurer denied payment

  • Help you file for reimbursement or escalation if needed

Just because the insurance company said “no” doesn’t mean you’re out of options.

What to Do:

Ask your shop to still do the correct calibration. Then ask the insurance company to:

  1. Put their denial in writing

  2. State they are assuming all risk for any related system failure

  3. Explain their decision in the context of the manufacturer’s repair standards

Spoiler: they don’t like doing that either.
