You Need a License to Cut Hair — But Not to Calibrate a 4,000 lb Missile on Wheels

Think about this: to legally cut hair in most states, you need to:

  • Go to school

  • Pass a state exam

  • Get licensed

  • Maintain continuing education

To cut hair.

But if you want to recalibrate a forward-facing radar that controls emergency braking at 80 mph?No license required. No standard certification. No regulatory body.

Nothing.

Let That Sink In

People are literally putting ADAS systems back into service with no oversight, no required training, and no consequences when they skip steps — because there’s no law saying they can’t.

And guess who suffers?

  • The driver

  • The family in the car

  • The shop that unknowingly trusted the “expert”

  • The next poor soul down the highway

The Industry Needs Standards. Until Then, We Need Accountability.

And until there’s a license for this? You’d better know exactly who you’re working with.

Because unlike a bad haircut, a bad calibration can kill someone.
